Schreiberling is a simple text editor that aims to attract aspiring writers and novelists with an uncluttered interface and the essential writing tools.
The application offers basic editing features you'd expect, including a simple color palette, and lets you divide your works in chapters. You can even jot down notes next to your writing.
Documents can be saved in . rtf, . doc or even exported to PDF and can easily be printed. Schreiberling also features a search tool at the bottom right of the interface, quite handy to look up words or sentences in your novel.
In a way though, Schreiberling is undermined by its own strength, its simplicity. The editing features are way too basic and don't offer you enough choice or variety.
While it feels uncluttered, it's not as feature free as WriteRoom, which in comparison, is fully rid of any distractions. If Schreiberling had wanted to go all the way, there's a couple of settings it could have done away with.
